Legal Support for Trial Practice & Appeals

Areas of Practice

We have won substantial judgments and settlements on behalf of our clients, and the clients of partner law firms, in all of the following areas:

appeals

When a final judgment enters in a lower court, a party may seek to reverse or overturn that judgment in a court with superior jurisdiction. Appeals typically involve intense amounts of research and writing. Through such efforts, our office has obtained reversals of lower court decisions and attained significant victories for our clients.

torts

If a person is legally injured by the wrongful act of another, that person may have the right to sue for compensation.  Indeed, a monetary award is usually the only means of compensating a victim for his or her losses, even when those losses are physical injuries or emotional distress. Common examples of tort claims are known as personal injury or negligence actions. Our office represents many plaintiffs who suffer harm from torts such as negligent accidents, like vehicle and tractor trailer crashes, toxic exposures, dangerous property, etc., or intentional acts, like abuse, assault, and reckless behavior.

civil litigation

The Law Office of Austin B. Johns has successfully litigated a wide variety of civil litigation, including: breach of contract, class action, the Dram Shop Act (regarding damages caused by a drunk driver or bar patron), medical malpractice, trade secret misappropriation, unjust enrichment, violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA), and wrongful death. Unlike many “plaintiff’s attorneys” who shy away from difficult legal cases, our office commits to delivering value to every client, and will serve as your civil attorney if you are in need.

Local COunsel

Our office partners with lawyers and law firms from outside of Connecticut to assist in the prosecution or defense of matters pending in the Connecticut state and federal courts. When attorneys from across the country need the assistance of local counsel to help represent their clients, our office is able to provide that help.

Admitted to practice in:
